Why you Should Join:

Power mapping is a visual tool used by advocates to identify the best individuals to target to promote social change. The SDEEC and its allies can use this tool to build and track legislative vote counts for specific pieces of legislation. They will learn how to:

• Evaluate the coalition’s own power.
• Map the influence of legislative targets by identifying donors, employers, values, experiences, policy positions, affiliations with community organizations and/or clubs, past legislative votes, reviewing social media, and identifying both their allies and opponents.
• Be clear about the kind of engagement that is best with each public official.
• Determine supporters, opponents, swing votes, and priority targets for persuasion.
• Build a vote count and update the power map over time.
